Gay Games 2023
Hong Kong and Guadalajara will co-host Gay Games 11 in 2023 and Dragon Boat Racing is one of the sports (dragon boating will be held in Hong Kong)! Everyone is welcome to participate in the Gay Games regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or background. The minimum age to participate is 18yo.
While the games run from 3-11 November, the dragon boat racing is scheduled for two days: 5 & 6 November. However, please allow a minimum of 3 days prior to race day in your annual leave.
Thank you to everyone that submitted an Expressions of Interest (EOI). Based on your responses, it looks like we have enough interest to send a crew across.
We therefore are now seeking formal RSVPs to confirm club participation at the Gay Games, final numbers and sport entries.
The event is all small boat racing with opens / womens / mixed (50% female). Minimum numbers to proceed will depend on the composition of who RSVPs.
RSVPs will close 3 February 2023.
EOI for Team Manager
The Coaching Team and DSDBC Board would also like to put the call out for EOIs for a Team Manager to help plan and look after logistics (flights, accomodation, land transport etc), assist members to register for the overall event and sport and work with the Coaching Team and Board in organisation, planning and team communications.
If you are interested in this role, please indicate in your RSVP.
Indicative costs
At a very high level, it is currently estimated that the trip cost will be in the vicinity of $3,000 to $3,500, this is indicative only and includes:
- flights
- accommodation (based on 5 nights)
- event entry $350 (general fee for registration + sports entry fee for dragon boating)
But does not include meals, land transport, merchandise etc.
