The Sydney Lunar New Year Dragon Boat Festival will take place at Darling Harbour with sports crew competition currently scheduled for Saturday 17 February 2024.

All racing will be 200 m race distance and this year all racing will be open age (i.e. no Senior A category). Racing classes will include opens, womens and mixed.

Note that the current festival schedule also has 'festival championship races' on Sunday 18 February 2024. Sunday's racing is mixed racing only. Entry to the 'Sydney International Grand Championship race' is invitational based on Saturday's performance. There is expected to be some other racing opportunities available to mixed crews that do not qualify for the Grand Championship race.

However, Mardi Gras Fair Day is also scheduled for Sunday 18 February - which is both an important event for the club for recruitment and brand awareness, as well as a favourite for members to attend with friends and family. Given the uncertainty around qualification for the Grand Championship race, the limited race format (mixed racing only) and the scheduling conflict with Fair Day, the club will be entering the sports crew competition on Saturday 17 February only.
