Mardi Gras 2017 – Creating Equality
Making Waves | An Underwater World was the title of our 2017 entry. We explored the depths of the oceans to find creatures of the sea who are different. We showcased our dance move to the beat of “Hula Hoop” by OMI. Our hula hoops were drawn into a collective motion where we created waves down Oxford Street.

Mardi Gras 2016 – Momentum
Momentum was the theme for 2016. It was about movement and how the LGBT community was coming together create more waves. Our focus was on the sport of dragon boating and how our sport encourages moving forward. We built a dragon boat and had Drag-on Boat | Moving Forward as our float title. Our dancers were one united army that lit up the streets with LED gloves to the tunes of Shakira.
Mardi Gras 2015 – Passion
Passion was the rage in 2015. As with many things in the LGBT community, it was all about drawing out the passions we have collectively. We showcased our passion for dragon boating with our singlets, blue boardies and light sticks to let everyone else know about the fun and passion we have for our club and sport. We kept it simple with a truck and music and a line of dancers that followed to the tunes of Uptown Funk from Bruno Mars.
Mardi Gras 2014 – Colour
Colour was the theme of the Mardi Gras parade for 2014. Our parade entry explored the message that through dragon boating, you can become a part of a supportive sporting family, one that celebrates together as a team and helps everyone to achieve their own “gold medal moment”. The 2014 season celebrated the first time the sport was represented in the Asia Pacific Outgames in Darwin, with a number of our paddlers competing for interstate for the first time.
